"The Tricks of The Trade" 2009-11-26
By Rebecca Johnson (Washington State)
Teri Gault started using coupons when she was a child. Later she went from riches to rags and back again. Throughout her life she has had times when she literally could not put food on the table unless she used coupons.

First Teri teaches you how to map out your favorite grocery store in your brain. She gives lists of questions to ask about any of the stores you are considering. I do this every time I go shopping at Fred Meyer and write out a list of items to buy on an envelope that now holds all my lovely coupons. I don't need to look at the coupons the whole time I'm shopping because I've written the exact item on the envelope according to where it is in the store. This saves me so much time and makes my life easier when my husband decides he is shopping with me and will be pushing the cart.

This book talks a lot about stockpiling and I do that on a few items, mostly beauty products I know I'm going to use frequently. Teri also recommends stores like Costco and Sam's Club if you are cooking for a crowd.

At the end of the book there is a small section listing websites where you can get free printable coupons. I printed off $4.65 in coupons to use during my next shopping trip.

One of the things I loved about this book was the "Yearly Calendar of Seasonal Savings." That you can refer to throughout the year so you buy everything on sale and with coupons. The lists tell you what time of year to stock up on necessities.

Teri Gault's book has a very cozy style. She also shares her own recipes and gives tips on how to give great parties. Since you will be saving so much money clipping coupons you will have extra cash to do whatever your heart desires. Maybe you are wishing for an exotic vacation. It is now possible if you follow the advice in this book.

Reading this book convinced me that I need to get into the game so I plan to sign up for Teri's four week trial. The stories in this book are amazing and really motivate you into action.

Recently I saved $35 at the grocery store and it was all products and food we really use all the time. I'll put the URL to my page in the comments section so you can see where to go to start clipping online coupons. What is really needed is an entire book of websites that have printable coupons. That would be ideal. If you know of one, please contact me from my website or leave a comment here.

"Author used the book to plug her website-poor taste" 2009-11-13
By Liaglynn (Army Wife, All over!)
I'm a couponer and becoming a "gamer" for a few weeks now. I was excited to read this book when I checked it out from the library. Teri chose A very deceptive title for this book. I found her plugging her website more than actually writing about shopping and saving money.

Honestly, after only couponing and "cutting back" for a few weeks now, most of the information in this book, I already knew. I only learned 3 things from this book. 1- To record my name on the cover of my coupon binder and offer a reward if found, 2- "The petroleum in 14 plastic bags could drive a car one mile." and 3-In 2006, a new software made web coupons more accepted by stores and these coupons are worth more than the ones offered in the paper.

After chapter 7, it looks like Teri forgot what kind of book she was writing. It then became a cookbook & party planning book. Chapter 8 is called "You're Invited!" This entire chapter is explaining how she "has gotten party-planning down to a science." Quote from her first paragraph on pg 130. Like most of her book, this has nothing to do with her title, "Shop Smart, Save More"

Thank goodness I checked it out from the library and didn't pay for it.

 "A Waste of Money" 2009-02-08
By Lee Anne Guryn (Pennsylvania)
This book is a waste of money. Only a very small portion of it is about how to save money on groceries and even that is encouraging you to use her website. I live in a rural area which only has Rite Aid as a store listed on her site. She does not really tell how to use your own store and most of the book is how to have a party and recipes. A Big Disappointment.

"This book will pay for itself the first day you start using it..." 2009-11-25
By Rebecca Johnson (Washington State)
I recently saved $35 at my local grocery store after my husband convinced me to go online to find printable coupons. Within an hour I had found all the coupons I needed for our next grocery shopping trip.

To say my husband was pleased is an understatement. Now he wants me to save money every time we shop. That was why I originally bought this book and I must say it paid for itself within the first day. I printed off $9 worth of coupons right after reading it and finding out where to go online.

This book will not only tell you where to go, it will also show you how to save money every time you shop at your favorite stores. Let's just say you should get a shopper's card immediately if not sooner. In this way you can take advantage of the advertised sales.

There are some unique ideas in this book like the idea for setting up a coupon train. You may also be interested in coupon swapping parties. Before reading this book I had also never thought of printing rebate forms online. So there are lots of good ideas.

While this book introduced me to some new websites I must say the best one I've found is a shop at home website that has hundreds of coupons. You can just select them and then print them all at once. I'll leave the URL in the comments section. Happy shopping!

"Thought the book was informative" 2009-09-29
By D. Carter (Ohio United States)
This book is great for someone new or looking for specific information on a certain keyword. There are a few other products that I have found that may be more informative the 2007 Internet Yellow Pages which has more websites listed and the other is an online directory search engine at [...]. I would say for the cost I thought this book was well worth it.

I was very dissapointed in this directory, maybe I was expecting too much. The directory does not have a complete listing and has only two or three recommendations for each linsting. I had a directory a few years ago that was as big as a phone book and that's what I thought I found.

This book can help you in many ways: find support groups for your business venture, hobby, interest, or cause; get ideas for greener, healthier, or more frugal living; etc. Website information is organized under fifteen broad topics, one chapter per topic and chapter sections correspond to subtopics: Business, Computers and Electronics, Current Events/ Political/ Science/ News, Education, Entertainment, Family/ Parenting, Food and Drink, Going Green/ Environment, Health, Hobbies, Home, Religion/ Philosophy, Shopping/ Fashion, Sports, and Travel. Each website entry comes with a short introductory description and icons indicating whether the website requires account creation and/or fees, is suitable for children, provides videos or forum discussions, or comes with a BEST rating recommendation from the authors. Websites maintained or managed by government agencies, non-profits, or the private sector, as well as by single or groups of individuals, liberal or conservative, are included in the mix. While coverage is quite extensive, the authors and publisher welcome feedback and suggestions (see page xiii for email address).

 "Internet Directory 2009 " 2008-11-16
By Tami Brady (Calgary, Canada)
Trying to find what you want on the Internet can be a frustrating and somewhat overwhelming task. Of course, you can do a search on Google. You'll get pages of websites that contain whatever key word you input. Dozens and dozens of pages of entries, probably hundreds of them will come up. Some of these pages will actually lead to a useful page. Many more will not.

2009 Internet Directory looks to simplify the process. As the name implies, it's a directory of websites, wikis, podcasts, blogs, forums, and social networks. The entries are seay to search through by topic for instance nonprofit business resources, science news, children's health, boating, museums, etc.

Of course, the entries listed are not complete listings of what is available online. However, this book does give you a good solid place to start looking. The majority of the websites are national or international associations and organizations. While doing my own searches, I found some really good resources with free material, newsletters, and some blogs that I bookmarked right away.

"THIS DIET WORKS! BUT THE BOOK DOESN'T" 2009-12-23
By Sandy Sawyer (Houston, TX)
I have all the diet books all the way back to "Fit for Life". After getting the first Flat Belly Diet book and trying it, I lost 10 pounds. I love the diet. That book made it easy to know what to eat and budget my calories over 4 400-calorie meals per day. Even a page with the "MUFA"s (the good fats) by calorie chart was helpful. But THIS book..let's just say my husband is afraid of it. It has recipes like chocolate zuccini cake. I haven't tried that, but the recipes I thought we would really like turned out kinda bad. It's like a dietician wrote the recipes, not a chef. I would recommend to buy the first book for sure. Then when you want more recipes, go to Weightwatchers books or some books with Diabetic recipes (many are actually very good!) The key to weight loss is good planning, but you have to know you are going to like the food.

"Great resource for healthy, flavorful cooking" 2009-12-05
By John Anthony (Seattle, Washington)
Our family is really enjoying the recipes we've found in the Flat Belly Diet book as well as the companion cookbook. There's a wide variety of recipes and we've yet to find one that wasn't flavorful. For the most part, the recipes are straight forward and the dishes easy to prepare. We really love their recipes for pork tenderloin, chicken, and seafood.

I spend a lot of time in the kitchen and the Flat Belly diet books have become regular companions.

"It works, but isn't easy." 2009-11-24
By Danno (Atlanta)
The diet works and seems to target the belly. My wife and I both have lost over 10 lbs. in less than 4 weeks. I've lost enough to have to tighten my belt a notch. I can tell she has lost weight too.

The down side is the recipes for the most part are not that simple, and not your everyday ingredients. (Pine nuts at $10 for a half pound? Come on.) You should be able to find a dozen or so recipes that you like and can afford to make. That will do to get you through a couple weeks to lose some weight, and inches. It would be tough to make this a life style diet though.

If you don't like olives or avocados, can't eat nuts, or just don't have time to prepare meals, this may not be for you. As always, save some money and look for a used book.

You have to say the word multiple times before the machine gets it, and even then it may come up with "enhiladas" when you are screaming "chips". I found that I have had to reenter most of the products I use with the names I call them and in my voice before the voice recognition would pick them up correctly. This has taken a lot of time, but it is paying off now as I now only have to say the name of the item once or twice to get it to go in.

 "practice makes perfect.." 2009-12-20
By J. Clark (california)
i got this as a gift and the theory was great...whenever someone noticed we were out of something, they had to put it on the list. That way, I was no longer "responsible" for not getting cereal, milk etc.

i will admit, it was a bit difficult to get the correct items on the first try-once we realized that background noise and shouting into the shopper didn't work, we eventually got the correct items to come up.

I have also utilzed the "improve item recognition" quite a few times and it really does help.

the frustrating thing for me is that i am now to a point where I have added so many things, my "library is full" and although I have deleted items i do no buy, I still cannot add more items.

In any case, its a good product and gets a lot of use at this household!

 "A Piece of Junk" 2009-12-30
By Dan T.
The bottom line on this item is that the voice recognition is barely functional. Some items aren't recognized no matter how many times you repeat them, and others have to be repeated many times. Even when it does recognize the item, most of the time it puts it in a list with 2 others (and not even first on the list), so you have to scroll through the list and push the select button. I tried many different combinations of speaking loudly, softly, using the word recognition improvement feature, adjusting the mic sensitivity, removing background noise. Nothing improved the poor performance. For $[...] bucks I expect to push the button, say the item, and it then be added to the list. Other features like printing performance, how well the magnet sticks to the fridge, etc., are all irrelevant if getting the items on the list is like pulling teeth. It appears that the only real purpose of the features that are supposed to help solve that issue (item recognition improvement, mic sensitivity adjustment) is to make you think if you fiddle with it long enough you'll get it to work. Then after a couple of months go by and your completely frustrated you'll be told it's too late to return it. I'm not falling for it, back it goes tomorrow !

Received the product. It sometimes has a difficult understanding my pronounciation even though I do not have a hard to understand accent. It was a pretty good deal for the money.

When many women look into the mirror, they see a tummy that is too tubby, a "too big" backside, dull hair, or a wrinkle that wasn't there the last time they looked. They concentrate on the one or two parts of their bodies they are less pleased with, often overlooking the many parts that are doing just fine.
The truth is, we need to understand our bodies as well-designed structures. Each part has its own function that is connected with the rest of our bodies' glorious parts. For our bodies to work as they are designed, each part must be nurtured with good food, consistent exercise, and stress-relieving relaxation. As we do so, we will become beautiful both inside and out. Gorgeous!
Gorgeous: The Sum of All Your Glorious Parts has been written by a team of experts—a world-renowned scientist, a food expert, and an Olympic medal-winning athlete—in an effort to coordinate all the elements that make up a glorious lifestyle. It is filled with information about the science of good health and beauty, food tips and recipes that promote wellness, and tips for stress-reducing exercise and relaxation techniques that builds on good science and good food. All of it is designed to help today's women make the most of their minds and bodies to create a wonderful life.
The book is divided into four main parts.
Part One: Garden of the Soul: Cultivating Mind and Body is about lifestyle, good eating habits, and physical fitness.
Part Two: How She Came to Be Lovely focuses on specific areas of the body—skin, hair, eyes, teeth, bones, toes, hands, tummies, and butts—offering the information needed about each to join good science with a healthy lifestyle. For instance, what does one do to rebuild collagen or tighten abs? Are there things in the kitchen, grocery store, and nearby recreation facilities that can play a part? Recipes designed to aid in the process are included in each chapter.
Part Three: Honor Your Body explains the relationship of sleep, reducing stress, and good sex to inner and outer beauty happiness.
Part Four: A Year's Worth of Fresh, Healthy Living brings all the information in the book together into a lifestyle guide that includes daily activities, meal plans, spa and relaxation techniques, volunteering, and tried-and-true techniques for balancing work and parenting—all of the tools necessary to achieve health, love, and beauty.
Gorgeous: The Sum of All Your Glorious Parts is based on the latest information on science, nutrition, and relaxation therapy. It acknowledges that, when it comes to beauty, one size does not fit all. Such thinking leaves no room for too fat, too thin, too old, too anything. It turns out that beauty is as much a state of mind as anything else.
Even if women today understand that beauty has little to do with airbrushed supermodels, American culture has taken its toll on their self-esteem, wearing them down and making them feel as unlovely or sexy as a garden slug. The beauty taught in Gorgeous: The Sum of All Your Glorious Parts celebrates uniqueness, femininity, and diversity. These are the things that show Mother Nature's stamp on what makes all of us original, unique creations, just as in a garden of breathtaking flowers there are plenty of different varieties. It's the same with humans. In the end, Gorgeous: The Sum of All Your Glorious Parts is not a diet book but a lifestyle-enhancement guide that shows smart, on-the-go women how to pamper and nurture themselves from the inside out.

Jorj has put together an informative and creative book about healthy living jam-packed with yummy recipes, meal plans, and essays on every aspect of nutrition. Her chapters discuss keeping your skin, hair, bones, eyes, teeth healthy followed by recipes using the foods suggested in the text. Her related website is great, too, and gives the reader further information plus organized grocery lists for her meal plans. Easy and fun!

I love this book! It's a thoroughly enjoyable read for real women in the real world. Fresh, new, and full of useful information, for once I don't feel ripped off by unrealistic promises. This book delivers everything it promises and more. Lots of innovative, but straightforward, recipes and tips. I can't wait to share it with all the "gorgeous" gals in my life.

"Get Your Own Copy Before the Coupons Expire" 2009-12-05
By Rebecca Johnson (Washington State)
Most of the coupons in this book won't expire until September 2010, some even last until December 2010. There are a few that expire in Dec 2009 - very few! This is a very colorful book filled with recipes, lifestyle advice, unique coupons and special online offers. Some of the special offers are purely for fun and others will save you a ton of money (This book could potentially save you up to $500.). Like take for instance the offer for personalized stationary, it might be fun to make up some stationary for your friends and give them as gifts.

Maybe you are interested in weight loss and need some new DVDs (Leslie Sansone and Denise Austin), there are coupons for online offers. What I liked the most about this book was the hard-to-find coupons like the ones for Aura Cacia essential oils. There are four coupons for $1 off each purchase.

Some of the recipes in this book include: Apple Butter Banana Bread, Spring Carrot Soup, Pineapple-Pear Crisp, Brandied Cherry Chocolate Bread Pudding, Teriyaki Chicken Stir Fry, Parmesan Garlic Vegetables, Pumpkin Spice Cookies, Pistachio Tiramisu and Shrimp Pinwheels.

There is a special section about anti-aging and what to eat if you want to look younger. I also liked the section on relaxation that gives tips on how to be less stressed. Other sections include tips on insomnia, boosting your energy and finding the right pair of workout shoes.

Here is a list of the products that have clippable coupons in this book: Advil, Fleischmann's yeast, Karo Syrup, Durkee spices, Spice Island Vanilla, Arm & Hammer Detergents, Blue Ribbon Rice, Bird's Eye Veggies, Blistex products, Bertolli Olive Oil, Caribou Coffee, Centrum vitamins, Colgate toothbrushes, Dancing Deer Baking Company, Dentyne gum, Eggland eggs, Frontier spices, Goya Seasonings, Hall's Candies, Kettle Potato Chips, La Croix drinks, Lady Speed Stick, Pamper's Diapers, Bath tissue, Reynold's Parchment Paper, Seventh Generation Cleaners, Simply Organic Seasoning Packets, Special K cereal, South Beach protein bars, Tyson chicken strips and Wonderful Pistachios.

The end of the book is filled with online offers like saving 30% on Ipod Workouts or 50% off guided tours of Rome, Paris, New York, etc. There is a coupon for Jillian Michaels workouts online and lots of offers for free magazine subscriptions (a year free from heart-healthy living). If you are pregnant you will want to know about a website that gives you updates on what to expect throughout your entire pregnancy. There are a few featured kid's websites that might interest you if you are a parent looking for educational games.

So is this book worth the price? I think it could be if you do a lot of shopping. If you are just a casual coupon clipper then this book might be a little overwhelming. I've already clipped various coupons and think it will be worth the money. However I think the main idea is to raise money for cancer research. The coupons are just the bonus.

I basically bought this book because I just wanted the money to go for a good cause but it turned out to be an amazing deal.

I got these for stocking stuffer Xmas gifts for my sisters and sister-in-law (and myself). It's for a good cause -- fighting breast cancer. It's got a ton of coupons for stuff I use all the time, and they will use the recipes and tips.

This coupon book is a wonderful thing; for you -- with all the coupons and discounts and health info as well as for the Breast Cancer research foundation. It's totally worth it and you can still get them in time for Christmas.

"What I liked about this book are the coupons, of course, but it also has a lot of recipes I haven't seen before, and some health and wellness tips I found especially helpful. With the news about mammograms and breast cancer, I really like doing something that works for Komen as well as for myself and my family. A great book, and a great gift. I recommend it to everyone."

I am a die-hard coupon user and decided to purchase this book because of the Everyday title--I use the Everyday cooking books all the time. I don't normally buy coupon books but I was swayed when I saw the type of coupons offered here. They have all the brands that I use that I don't normally find coupons for in the paper or supermarket circular. I've done the calculations and I've already saved more than I paid for the book. I'm very happy with it and I reccomend it to anyone looking to save money that doesn't want to stray from their favorite brands.

"Great Ideas for Getting Free Coupons in the Mail" 2009-11-25
By Rebecca Johnson (Washington State)
"Companies appreciate consumer feedback so much that sometimes when it is volunteered, they will send a coupon for a free product." ~ pg. 26

If you have been avoiding writing companies for coupons then you will love this book. There are sample letters and ideas for how to write postcards to get almost free coupons. The only thing you will need to do is to buy pre-stamped postcards.

I used one idea in this book to get a few coupons for products I buy all the time. Going to the company's website and filling out a comment form was well worth the effort. I found this was faster than writing a letter because the coupons arrived so quickly.

So while this book is very short and to the point it will be very useful to anyone who is timid about writing big corporations. Getting coupons in the mail turns out to be really fun and it is even more fun to watch the price of your groceries drop as the clerk scans them at the store.

I went to the author's website and it was down, but there was another URL in the book at the end that I tried and found a great site with lots of excellent deals. Like if you want to save money in the grocery store at amazon there is a link to a special page with a list of offers.

I have heard of people saving a lot of money with coupons but

I didn't really know "how" they did it. I have seen this author's

column in the newspaper and then saw her on TV. I was impressed so

I bought her book. I finally understand how to stretch my dollars!

If you want to know the inside scoop on coupons,

you will appreciate this book too.

Spend a little to save a LOT!

 "Excellent Book" 2009-10-20
By K. Delaporte
I read this book cover to cover. The content is excellent. There are lots of new ideas throughout the book on saving money in the grocery store you won't find in typical woman's magazine. The book was well worth the money and more. I have saved $100's of dollars since applying the knowledge I learned in this book.

I am grateful I bought this book. I knew a lot of traditional methods of saving money on groceries including clipping coupons, finding great grocery deals, etc. This book covered a non-traditional method on how to receive free groceries I had never heard before. The book is worth its weight in gold. I am grateful to the author for making this knowledge available to the general public.

How to Receive Free Groceries

Save your money...I have never felt the need to rate a book before but i got this tonight after it was recommended from the author. Majority of the pages are taken up with large pictures and large print, maybe to eat us space and bring it up to 90 pages. This is below the basics of coupons, the author tells you to buy post cards and mail them to the manufacturers asking for coupons that is the basis of the book. Oh, and to match up your coupons to the items on sale. Duh!!!! Get another book by another author.
